FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT WOULD A SHARPER KNIFE DO FOR ME?
A sharp knife has multiple benefits including blade contact, cutting ease and product integrity.
Blade contact is how the cutting edge of the knife touches the cutting surface and can be warped do to excessive force when cutting. If you rest your knife on a flat surface, watch at eye level, you can see any warping/miscontact as you rock the cutting edge from tip to base.
Cutting ease follows blade contact because when your blade is fully in contact with your cutting surface and is sharp you require less force to move the knife through each cut. This ease allows the user to increase speed and safety as you are not putting an excess of pressure on the knife, were the worst injuries happen.
Product integrity ties in with all of this as you will produce cleaner cuts to items. For example your sharpened knife perfectly glides through a bunch of fresh aromatic basil verses the basil being brused and bleeding its flavour over your cutting surface.
HOW ARE MY KNIVES SHARPENED?
At Guillotine Knife Co we only sharpen on premium quality whet stones and leather strops to remove as little metal as possible from your blade. Whet stones are much more gentle than a grinding wheel so you can be sure that they are getting all of the care they need. Basic sharpening packages use lower grit stones to restore edge and premium sharpening gives your knife a razor edge.
WHAT IF I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH THE SHARPENING SERVICE?
All basic and premium sharpening contracts have a paper cut guarantee. This means your knife will cut through a sheet of paper or your money back.
